Kahlenberg Industries supplies machined components and assemblies as an extension of our customers’ manufacturing and supply systems, minimizing their investments outside their areas of core competency.
Specializing in machining highly engineered low to medium volume parts ranging from smaller turned pins and shafts, to large milled weldments, castings and other machined assemblies, the Kahlenberg’s quality system is certified to the latest ISO 9001-2015 Standard. Kahlenberg is also a certified supplier to Fortune 500 and Nasdaq listed corporations. For over 60 years we have been providing contract machining services and complete components to original equipment manufacturers throughout Wisconsin, the Midwest and beyond.
Pins & Shafts
Kahlenberg manufactures pins and shafts of steel and stainless steel alloys typically from 1” diameter to 10” diameter for use in heavy lifting and industrial equipment. Typically turned to within .001″ tolerances, many pins and shafts also include cross holes or other milled details machined in the same setup on lathes with live tooling. Protective finish such as zinc di-chromate plating for steel pins is normally applied. Material traceability is ensured with chemical and physical material certifications held on file for all jobs. Many of these pins and shafts are maintained in stock for immediate shipment to customers.
Large Turned Components
Kahlenberg Industries specializes in turned components up to 84” diameter. With vertical turning capabilities up to 84″ swing, and up to 65″ with live tooling, large turned parts with additional milled or drilled features are an ideal fit for our capabilities. We have significant experience turning large Brass, Bronze, Steel, Stainless Steel and harder MIL-SPEC alloys.
Castings and Weldments
Kahlenberg has long standing relationships with the Midwest’s best foundries and fabricators. Cast and fabricated components of cast iron, brass, bronze, stainless steel and steel alloys can be handled as complete projects from start to finish including secondary machining operations and finishing. Machining capacities up to 71” x 98” x 47” size, and up to 10 tons weight can be accommodated in our facility.
Other Machining Capabilities
Machining operations at Kahlenberg are highly versatile. In addition to large turning, boring and milling, smaller vertical and horizontal machining centers allow for efficient production of smaller components. Unique capabilities also include keyseating, hydraulic press, weld repair, and static balancing of parts up to 110″ diameter and 2 tons weight.
Support Services
In order to properly support manufacturing, and provide complete solutions to customers, more than efficient machining operations are necessary. Kahlenberg offers mechanical engineering support and a knowledgeable purchasing department in addition to a full time machine programming staff. Programming and Engineering utilize Solidworks, Autocad, and Mastercam CAD/CAM systems to allow for efficient production planning based on customer provided documents in 2D or 3D formats.
Utilizing the latest in integrated manufacturing software and systems, our plant managers and machine operators have instant access to the important information relevant to customer orders. Visual on-line scheduling of machines dramatically improves our ability to provide customers with accurate delivery dates.
A company wide ERP system gives us the ability to effectively manage customer inventory based on their demand forecast. All drawings, program information, and manufacturing methods for all parts are saved electronically for future reference and revision, and are controlled effectively by ISO 9001 procedures.
